Toronto: A Clean, Green, and Beautiful City
The public realm defines a city's character. The way a city looks and feels shapes the sense of place of those who live there. Mayor David Miller wants Torontonians to be proud of their city's appearance. He envisions Toronto as a clean, green, and beautiful city with a wonderful waterfront.
The name Toronto comes from the Huron word for meeting place. This is what Mayor David Miller envisions for our waterfront; a place for people from all over Toronto – and all over the world – to enjoy.
A clean and beautiful city is so much more than having a city free of litter. It means making sure that Toronto has world-class architecture and beautiful public spaces. He wants Torontonians to share a commitment to making the city beautiful.
A green city means that Toronto should have the smallest possible environmental footprint. Mayor David Miller believes that Toronto has a responsibility to be environmentally sustainable and help clean the air, water and earth that surround us.
