David Miller's Vision

What Makes a Great City?

story image

To me, a great city is one that is known around the world for the quality of life it offers its citizens. It's safe, strong, creative and clean. It has a great transit system. And a great city leaves no one behind by creating opportunity for all.

Toronto has come a long way in the last three years.

Our streets are safer, thanks to more police officers and more opportunities for young people.

Our city is stronger, thanks to sound fiscal management – and new partnerships with the federal and provincial governments to bring hundreds of millions of dollars of new investment in policing, transit, child care and the waterfront.

Our city is more creative – as we attract innovative thinkers and businesses from around the world -- and as we invest in the renaissance of our city's artistic and cultural life.

Our city is cleaner and greener, with reductions in litter on the streets and garbage from our homes. We have earned acclaim as a world leader on the environment. After a generation of false starts, we're finally seeing exciting things happening on the waterfront.

And our city has not forgotten that even in a prosperous era, we must become a city of opportunity for all. That's why we have new initiatives to house the homeless, and to bring both help and hope to Toronto's most vulnerable neighbourhoods.

I'm running for re-election to continue my work today for the Toronto we want for tomorrow.

On this website, you'll find a compilation of the policies I have announced in this campaign – and the priorities I'll pursue should I earn the privilege of a second term as your Mayor.

I look forward to working with City Councillors and staff, Canada's other governments, and the people of Toronto as we build our great city -- together.
